We lost power at 1-something PM on Labor Day. We lost internet about 30 seconds before the power went out. The next day, we did what the EOC asked everyone not to do. We drove down Walker Road South and surveyed the damage that left us in the dark. And Daniel's right. It was pretty bad. 100 year old oak trees with 12 foot wide root balls were laying on their sides after having crushed everything between them and the ground. Powerlines were tangled with trees that blocked half of the road. Some lanes of the road were clear only because someone had come through with a chain saw and cut a path clear.
Day 2 without power...It was hot in the house so Daniel got to hang out in his diaper. He thought that was pretty cool.
We stayed with Sherwin and Candace until Saturday when we got our power back. And that we had a few adventures together. The generator had a faulty oil gauge, so the think would shut off every 10 minutes. Then Candace's cat Keyan, who is both front and rear declawed, got out of the house on Friday. We were home all day but didn't notice because the cat was afraid of us and hid the whole time we were there. After he was found, caught, and brought home...he though he was the man. He hung out in the livingroom, let Rob and Daniel pet him...if he weren't such an unusual cat, shaved gray persian...we'd have thought it was the wrong cat. Other than for my allergy attack, it was a decent week.
We had cable back up with the electricity, but we didn't have internet access back until two days ago...thus lack of updates here.

We're back home now. Mommy's on medication for a rash on her thumb...a complication from her allergic reaction to antibiotics. (My fault...if I had read the counterindications given to me with the pills, I would have known I was allergic to them.) Daddy's done a little minor plumbing work in lieu of a complete toilet replacement he had planned before the hurricane. And Daniel's attempting to climb up on the coffee table. The last time he tried that, he let go, slipped, and knocked his chin on the table. Now he's learned how to sit back down, so not as worrisome.
We have a super yard to keep him confined to his playmat, but he HATES it. If I remove it, he plays with his toys. Put it up, and he just holds onto the yard and cries. Apparently, he knows he's confined, which impresses us.

I am glad you guys are all ok! Robbie has family near Galveston and more in Houston. They were also without power! Scary stuff!
