Resolutions New and Old

We completed two of our major goals for 2007...getting pregnant, which we honestly thought might take more than one try, and with 4 days to spare, we got the carpet out of our house. (Almost. We left it in three closets.)

Rob and I put down the laminate flooring in office after Christmas and he installed the threshold molding last night. All that's left is the fireplace surround...we bought extra molding for it, like almost a 100 dollars worth, just in case we screw it up again. (To be fair, I screwed it up last time.)

We ended up buying more Home Depot stuff for the office because we liked how it snapped together better. We donated the excess Dream Home laminate planks to St. Vincent de Paul. And it never even made it into the store. Some guy bought the stuff while Rob was working on the donation tax receipt...it was moved from our vehicle into his in the parking lot. So that worked out well all around.

The house is less of a wreck than it was a week a go, but there's still a lot to do. We have to get the crap out of the baby's room back into guest room. We have to get the chest out of the guest room back into our room. We have to get the crap out of the master bedroom and livingroom back into the office.

So far, we've moved the futon from the office into the guest room and set up the extra queen bed we have in the office. So we now have room for 5 guests without anyone sleeping on the couch or floor. What left everywhere else is just the little stuff we have to make decisions about...keep, donate, throw out. And that doesn't end with the stuff we relocated for the floor work...we really want to go through the whole freaking house. Bathroom drawers, hall closet, kitchen cabinets, clothes and towels. So much to do...so little time.

The Office crap in the living room is paper. Paper that needs to be filed. Paper that needs to be shredded. Some of that paper we moved into this house with, so we're talking about a lot of paper.

So, this looks like a good time for New Years Resolutions for 2008, (so far...numbered, but not in order of importance):

1. Stay on top of filing/shredding paper.
2. Get accounting software on my laptop and actually use it.
3. Cook at home...more.
4. Pay off a credit card. (Hold over from 2007).
5. Send cards to people.
6. Read to my son every day.
7. Bake.
